WELCOME TO SCIENCE CLUB
Science club at St Mary's runs Wednesday at second break. It is a voluntary program where students can visit to see what is happening, then choose to stay if they are interested.
Students from all year levels are welcome to come and be part of the activities. Some activities compliment work that is being covered in science classes, other activities extend the students understandings of science and technology in the world around them.

2015
6th November 2015 Today in science club we worked on the computers building electric circuits. This is an activity the year 5/6 students have been studying. Check out the 5/6 page to see what else they have been doing with electricity
28th October 2015. It's over a month since science club posted but that doesn't mean that we haven't been doing some fun things.
Today we had the stereo microscopes out and we were looking at things magnified x20. That made everything look 20 times as big. We saw tiny seashells, 'dead' flies from the window ledge (including a beautiful green one), a leaf, a prickle and other bugs collected from the oval (which we then returned unhurt because we RESPECT all living things). Check out the link to see some great photos from under more powerful microscopes https://www.microscopyu.com/smallworld/gallery/ http://www.wired.com/2014/10/nikon-small-world-40-years-microscope-photos/#slide-x http://io9.com/photos-of-the-amazing-and-gruesome-world-under-a-micros-1291328130 |
16th September 2015. Today in science club we made Oobleck. Year 5/6's students have been studying solids liquids and gases. To finish the term we made this non Newtonian fluid that acts both like a liquid and a solid.
Check out the 5/6 page (term 3 2014) to find some really cool videos of oobleck and the recipe to make it at home This is a taste of the story by Dr Seuss. Maybe you could get mum or dad to buy it for your ipad.
