As a class we investigated an old map that Mrs McWilliam 'found'. It appeared to be of the Murray River and showed: the river; some tracks; trees; reeds; logs; a cliff; pumps; houses and a shed. Mrs McWilliam said it was a map of Tol Tol near her house and showed us some photos of what the area looks like now. The class had a close look at some dirt that came from "x-marks the spot" on the map
We also collected our own samples of soil and rocks. With the soil we are making a soil solution. We mixed our sample with water, shook it up and have left it to settle. The heavy soil will sink to the bottom first and the lighter soil will take longer to settle. We will be able to look at the different layers and see what different soils make up our soil sample. - watch out for the photos
